What is U-Pass?
The U-Pass Program is an integrated comprehensive transportation package that provides students with universal, accessible, and affordable access to public transit and other sustainable transportation programs. It is a mandatory program for all members of the Alma Mater Society (AMS) and costs $23.75/month. This program was initially approved via student referendum in February 2003 and re-approved in February 2005 and again in March 2008.
U-Pass Fee Assessment
The U-Pass fee will be assessed in September, January, and if applicable at the time of registration in the summer session, as part of your AMS fees. Current prices are guaranteed until August 2011. In the case of future price adjustments, an AMS student referendum will occur.
U-Pass 18-Month Review
This study was conducted in partnership with UBC, the AMS, SFU, SFSS, and TransLink to identify how U-Pass Programs can be enhanced to better meet the needs of students, universities, and TransLink, in addition to informing the development of potential future U-Pass programs. Help us respect our neighbours and reduce traffic to UBC by leaving your car at home. Use your U-Pass and take the bus! It's much less expensive and does your bit for the environment. You can also avoid expensive parking charges and towing charges of over $100 for parking on Vancouver's residential streets longer than 3 hours. For more information, refer to Bylaw No. 2849.
