New Year, New U-Pass: September 2011
The Provincial government has made the hugely popular U-Pass program available to all public, post-secondary institutions in BC. This program launches at UBC in September, 2011.
While you’ll still enjoy lower transit fares across all zones, there are five big changes you need to understand.
The U-Pass BC program is an integrated comprehensive transportation package that provides students with universal, accessible and affordable access to public transit across the region. Check this page and the UBC Bookstore Twitter feed for live updates on the status of the U-Pass lineup.
The U-Pass BC card costs $30/month and provides students with unlimited access to Bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain services. This program is mandatory for members of UBC’s Alma Mater Society and the cost is included as part of your AMS fees.
Starting on August 25, the new U-Pass will be available from a bank of high speed vending machines in the UBC Bookstore. Simply swipe your student card and the machine will issue your September U-Pass.
Note: The information on this page refers to the new U-Pass BC program that comes into effect on September 1, 2011. For information on the summer 2011 U-Pass program, click here.
